The Huron River Rats will head out on the road to take on the Skyline Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Huron has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Huron is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Whitmore Lake just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Trojans, falling 21-9.
Mya Stewart was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Mallory Hirschman, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Skyline brought some dynamite into their most recent game. Everything went their way against Jackson on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The Eagles not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 7, 2025 (when they won 24-9).
Piper Ayotte made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Ayotte was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camryn Murray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Eva Kwiatkowski also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Skyline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .870. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Huron's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Skyline, they moved to 3-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Huron has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
