Holy Cross had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past the Forest City Foresters 16-1. Considering the Crusaders have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
AVA SCHMIDT was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, JULES GALELLA was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. MAYA DESANTIS was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and one double.
Holy Cross was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .679. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 18-3. As for Forest City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.
