Recap: Richland Rangers vs. Raymond Rangers
The Richland Rangers''s game on Friday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 20-7 to Raymond. Richland lost against Raymond in their previous head to head back in October of 2018, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 26-24 score last time.
Despite the loss, Richland still got an impressive performance from JaQuavion Young, who rushed for 91 yards, and also picked up 51 receiving yards.
Leading Raymond to victory were Keveonta White and Amodra Moffett. White rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, while Moffett rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Richland to a paltry 240 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Raymond's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Zander Butler and DeMarrion Williams who racked up four sacks between them.
Richland's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Raymond, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richland will take on St. Andrew's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Raymond, they will be playing at home against McComb at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. McComb is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
