Basketball Recap: River City Science Academy Rockets vs. Covenant School of Jacksonville Warriors
River City Science Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell to the Covenant School of Jacksonville Warriors 48-44. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Johnny Breen was the offensive standout of the game as he went 5 for 9 en route to 17 points plus eight rebounds. Breen is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Combs, who posted nine points.
River City Science Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Covenant School of Jacksonville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River City Science Academy will host Middleburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covenant School of Jacksonville, they will be defending their home-court for the first time this season they go up against Jacksonville Classical Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Covenant School of Jacksonville is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
