Softball Recap: Gooding Wins Going Away Against Mccall-Donnelly

Gooding's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the McCall-Donnelly Vandals with a sharp 25-1 win. That 24 run margin sets a new team best for the Senators this season.

Olivia Rogers and Jaelynn Patton were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Rogers tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Patton struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). At bat, Rogers scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Patton scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Patton a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Day, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kodi Garza, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Gooding always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McCall-Donnelly only posted an OBP of .294.

Gooding now has a winning record of 3-2. As for McCall-Donnelly, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Gooding is taking a road trip to take on Middleton at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Middleton will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Gooding surely won't give up without a fight. As for McCall-Donnelly, they will take on Lakeland in a tournament on Saturday.
