Softball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Byron's Winning Streak

Byron fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Kasson-Mantorville on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Komets by a score of 6-5. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Tallie Behrens was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kaydence Fjerstad was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Byron's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for Kasson-Mantorville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-6.

Byron does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kasson-Mantorville, they will head out on the road to square off against Chatfield at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
