Softball Game Preview: Mount Airy Granite Bears vs. Alleghany Trojans

The Mount Airy Granite Bears will venture away from home to take on the Alleghany Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Alleghany took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount Airy, who comes in off a win.

Mount Airy will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Elkin, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Granite Bears came out on top in a nail-biter against the Buckin' Elks on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-3.

Meanwhile, Alleghany was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 13-3 to Starmount.

Alleghany's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Mount Airy, their win bumped their record up to 3-10.

Everything went Mount Airy's way against Alleghany when the teams last played on April 1st, as Mount Airy made off with a 13-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Granite Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
