Softball Recap: North Posey Vikings vs. Gibson Southern Titans        
        
		
            
 North Posey was the  4-1 winner over Gibson Southern when they last played one another  back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The North Posey Vikings fell just short of the Gibson Southern Titans by a score of  12-10 on Friday. North Posey has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Jenna Wehmer stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with a  home run and four  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Sibyl Renshaw, who  got on base  in all five of her plate appearances with a  double and  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, North Posey  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 16  hits. That's the most  hits they've managed all season.
 On Gibson Southern's side,  Carly Potts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing seven innings while giving up  three earned  (and seven unearned) runs off   ten  hits. Potts has been consistent recently: she hasn't  pitched less than six  innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Potts was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of her five plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Laney Scherer, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4.  Ally Malone was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances.
 North Posey's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Gibson Southern, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 14 of their last 15 contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record  this season.
 North Posey will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Vernon at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday. North Posey's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6  runs per game  this season, so Mt. Vernon's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gibson Southern, they will head out on the road to  challenge  Pike Central at 12:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Gibson Southern is coming into the  match hot, having won their last six games.
