Basketball Recap: SkyView Academy Takes a Loss

It was a Battle of the Birds when SkyView Academy duked it out withHeritage Christian on Friday. The SkyView Academy Hawks were beaten by the Heritage Christian Eagles 64-13. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-7.

When it comes to explaining why SkyView Academy lost, don't look at Lydia Slocum. Despite the final result, she posted nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, SkyView Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Heritage Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cadence Smith out in front who went 6 for 8 on her way to 16 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Case, who put up nine points and five steals.

SkyView Academy's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Heritage Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

SkyView Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-33 victory against Bishop Machebeuf on the 15th. Heritage Christian has also already played their next contest, an 81-17 win against Dawson School on the 14th.
