Baseball Recap: Princeton Takes a Loss

Princeton extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 17-6 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Heritage Hills Patriots. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this game were averaging 3.52 runs allowed.

Princeton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jarrett Kinder, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Tyson Engelbrecht also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Heritage Hills, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.91 runs allowed.

On Heritage Hills' side, Peyton Gray was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Those five RBI gave Gray a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Hopf, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Princeton will face off against Pendleton Heights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.5, the Arabians 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Heritage Hills, they will square off against Corydon Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
