Basketball Recap: NSU University Takes Down Pine Crest in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and NSU University had no trouble coming through when it counted. They strolled past the Pine Crest Panthers with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 64-45. Given the Sharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Panthers are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead NSU University to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Osecola, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 23 points and three blocks. The contest was Osecola's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sean Jones, who went 9 of 20 en route to 21 points and eight boards.

NSU University has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Pine Crest, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 20-6 record.

NSU University will square off against Cardinal Gibbons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. NSU University is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. Pine Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
