Baseball Game Preview: Taft Eagles vs. Wheeling Wildcats

The Taft Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Wheeling Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Taft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Taft is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kaneland. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly four runs.

Israel Rodriguez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Lucas Espinosa was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wheeling came up short against Maine West on Friday, falling 16-8. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Wheeling's defeat dropped their record down to 12-20. As for Taft, their loss dropped their record down to 16-18.
