Northside - Pinetown and East Carteret are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Northside - Pinetown will be playing at home against East Carteret at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside - Pinetown is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

On Friday, Northside - Pinetown came up short against Pamlico County and fell 11-6. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly five runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Carteret). Everything went their way against Lejeune on Friday as East Carteret made off with a 23-5 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mariners considering their two-run performance the match before.

Kara Knudsen made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Ashley Mintz was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Sadie McIntosh was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.

East Carteret was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

East Carteret has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Northside - Pinetown's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Everything went Northside - Pinetown's way against East Carteret when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Northside - Pinetown made off with a 16-6 victory.
