Softball Recap: Vintage's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Vintage extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 16-6 in the process. They came out on top against the American Canyon Wolves by a score of 4-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-1 back in April.

American Canyon's batters probably weren't too happy with Angie Rubalcava, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (she gave up four walks). Rubalcava has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Vintage saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Morton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Aliyah McDonald was another, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Vintage hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

As for American Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10-1. Having soared to a lofty 22 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On American Canyon's side, Jayden De Los Santos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in both of her plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vintage will challenge Petaluma at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crushers 2, the Trojans 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for American Canyon, they will take on Redwood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Giants have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
