Basketball Recap: Mountain Island Charter Comes Up Short

Mountain Island Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 99-68 defeat at the hands of the Corvian Community Cardinals. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (64), the Raptors still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Island Charter lost, don't look at Christan Jones. Despite the final result, he posted 32 points. Jones' evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Bridgewater, who earned 15 points.

RJ Moore Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Corvian Community, shooting 6-for-10 from deep and dropping a double-double on 30 points and ten rebounds. Moore Jr. is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 21 every time he's taken the court this season. AJ Jackson Jr. was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six assists and five steals.

Mountain Island Charter's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Corvian Community, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-5.

Mountain Island Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 84-71 defeat against Langtree Charter Academy on the 16th. Corvian Community has also already played their next game (against Pine Lake Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
