McFarland is a perfect 8-0 against Laton since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. Laton took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on McFarland, who comes in off a win.

McFarland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over Delano on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last 12 contests, Laton finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They lost 14-2 to Wonderful College Prep Academy. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolves since on Tuesday.

Laton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jade Perez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Perez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

McFarland's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Laton, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.

McFarland was able to grind out a solid win over Laton in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 17-12. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
