Football Game Preview: University Trojans vs. Rudder Rangers

University is 0-3 against Rudder since October of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. University has given up an average of 31.4 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Things were looking good for University after they put the first points on the board last Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lampasas. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Badgers are ranked 92nd).

University's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of London Smith, who picked up 197 receiving yards and three scores, and Savoy Nichols, who threw for 308 yards and four TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 113.8 receiving yards per game.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rudder, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They had just enough and edged out Fort Bend Willowridge 24-21.

University now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Rudder, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
