Football Game Preview: East Burke Cavaliers vs. Draughn Wildcats

The East Burke Cavaliers will head out to take on the Draughn Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Burke has given up an average of 28 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, East Burke was beaten by East Rutherford 53-24.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Ossie Burkeen and Brandon Pinkerton. Pinkerton had a great game and rushed for 155 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Burkeen was balling out in the loss, rushing for 145 yards and one touchdown.

East Burke didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as RJ Williams, Trevor Fraley, and Jaxson Wiley picked up one apiece. Wiley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Draughn's offense. They were outmatched by Chase and fell 62-0. Having soared to a lofty 58 points in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

East Burke's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Draughn, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

East Burke didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Draughn in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, but they still walked away with a 12-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
