Baseball Game Preview: Sage Hill Lightning vs. Laguna Beach Breakers

The Sage Hill Lightning will head out to challenge the Laguna Beach Breakers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Sage Hill didn't have quite enough to beat Portola and fell 6-5. The Lightning have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sage Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jared Stroner, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, on Friday Laguna Beach's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Woodbridge. The two-run effort marked the Breakers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Becker Sybirski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Laguna Beach pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games. As for Sage Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Sage Hill was able to grind out a solid win over Laguna Beach when the teams last played back in March of 2016, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sage Hill since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
