Softball Recap: Berkeley Springs Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Berkeley Springs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Hampshire Trojans 11-9. Considering the Indians' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Alaira Harrington made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over eight innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Layla Parsell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Buck, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

The win snapped Berkeley Springs' losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 6-19 record. As for Hampshire, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-15.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trojans beat Berkeley Springs by a score of 16-1 later that day.
