Baseball Game Preview: Addison Trail Blazers vs. Hinsdale South Hornets

For the second straight game, Addison Trail will face off against Hinsdale South. The Blazers will venture away from home to square off against the Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Addison Trail has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Addison Trail took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Hinsdale South 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blazers have posted since April 25, 2024.

Jonathon Valdez was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last five matchups. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Addison Trail: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-12 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Jordan Ciezobka looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since April 2nd.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Casey Carlson, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Matt Garcia also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
