Volleyball Recap: Santana Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Riley Hoagland and Eduardo Alvarez

Santana lost against El Cajon Valley back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Santana lost 3-0 to El Cajon Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Sultans have suffered since April 24, 2024.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 25-15.

Eduardo Alvarez and Riley Hoagland certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Alvarez had 15 digs, while Hoagland had nine digs, seven kills, and one block. Those nine digs gave Hoagland a new career-high.

Santana has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. El Cajon Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Santana wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Grossmont on the 20th. As for El Cajon Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Granite Hills on the 20th.
