Baseball Recap: Bruton Comes Up Short

If Bruton was riding high fresh off their 11-3 takedown of Northampton last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bruton came up short against the Grafton Clippers on Wednesday, falling 11-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Clippers: they've now lost five in a row.

Bruton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Olinger, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Olinger also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Bruton's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Grafton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bruton will venture away from home to take on New Kent at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. New Kent will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Bruton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grafton, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Tabb at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
