Basketball Game Preview: Prentice Buccaneers vs. Marathon Red Raiders

Prentice hasn't had much luck against Marathon recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Prentice Buccaneers will look to defend their home court against the Marathon Red Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Prentice is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Prentice will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Athens, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Prentice walked away with a 47-39 victory over Athens on Tuesday. While the Buccaneers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Marathon's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 42-33 to Auburndale. The matchup marked the Red Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Prentice pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Marathon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2.
