Basketball Recap: Sierra Takes a Loss

Sierra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 62-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Catholic Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 973rd, while the Raiders are ranked 408th).

Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Magana, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Magana a new career-high. Amari Waterford was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Sierra's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Central Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season.

Sierra didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-53 defeat against East Union on the 17th. Central Catholic has also already played their next contest, a 58-46 win against Oakdale on the 17th.
