WPIAL AAA Parkway recap October 22, 2013

Timothy Mancini of Blackhawk ran for the longest rushing play in WPIAL AAA Parkway this season against Chartiers Valley last week. Mancini scampered for 87 yards on the play and finished with 191 on the day as his team beat the Colts.

Hopewell scaled the state rankings by moving to 392 from 447 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings climbed the ranks as a result of beating Freedom Area 55-20.

DiMontae Bronaugh provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Hopewell beat the Bulldogs.

Bronaugh was a force in the backfield as Dave Vestal's team beat Freedom Area.

Bronaugh was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 286 yards on 26 carries as the Vikings lost to West Allegheny. Tyler Ishman also contributed to the rushing game with 138 yards on the ground.

6-foot-3 quarterback Julian Cox of New Castle is the league leader in passing yards this season with 852. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Payne. The Montour star has 20 catches for 390 yards.

One of WPIAL AAA Parkway's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Hurricanes and Hopewell face off next week.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Moon Area takes on the Spartans. As it stands, the Tigers are in fourth, while Montour is in fifth.

Blackhawk was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in the league. Joe Hamilton's team beat Chartiers Valley 35-20 earlier in the week.
