Basketball Game Preview: Northfield Norsemen vs. Lewis Cass Kings

The Northfield Norsemen will venture away from home to square off against the Lewis Cass Kings at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lewis Cass took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Northfield, who comes in off a win.

Northfield is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing South Adams: they outscored them in every quarter. Northfield blew past South Adams 50-30 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Norsemen.

Northfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Teagan Baer, who posted eight points in addition to 12 rebounds and four steals. Baer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Kuhn, who put up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Lewis Cass unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Oak Hill by a score of 40-38.

Northfield has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points per game. As for Lewis Cass, their loss dropped their record down to 12-3.

Northfield ended up a good deal behind Lewis Cass in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, losing 44-30. Can Northfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
