Baseball Recap: Berwick Takes a Loss

Berwick extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 9-2 to the Pittston Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 last Monday.

Berwick saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Sult, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Pittston, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Pittston's side, Ashton Lepore looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Eli Mead was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dom Innamorati, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Coming up, Berwick will venture away from home to face off against Wyoming Area at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pittston, they will be playing at home against Hazleton Area at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
