CHLOE Byrd was dynamite on Friday, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was her sixth in a row with six or more strikeouts. This year, she has been strong no matter where she plays. On the mound, she has an ERA of 3.30 over 59.1 innings pitched. Meanwhile, at bat she has slashed 0.461/0.549/0.816 with 43 RBI and 5 home runs, plus 10 stolen bases.

Byrd's strong effort led Grand County over Gunnison Valley and she'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
