Softball Recap: Cottonwood Comes Up Short

Cottonwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-11 heartbreaker at the hands of the Highland Rams. Even if the Colts couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Tialer Mounts was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Samantha Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Cottonwood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Highland, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Cottonwood has already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against Jordan on the 15th. As for Highland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-8 defeat against West on the 15th.
