Volleyball Recap: Waterloo Pirates vs. New Glarus Glarner Knights

Waterloo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell just short of the New Glarus Glarner Knights by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September.

Waterloo actually scored more points across those five sets (99-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 14-25, 27-25, 15-25, 15-12.

Even though they lost, Waterloo was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in September.

New Glarus can attribute much of their success to Ella Woodmansee, who had eight digs and four aces. That's the most aces Woodmansee has posted in her last six games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycee Dimaggio, who had 23 digs.

Waterloo's loss dropped their record down to 9-21. As for New Glarus, the victory snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 8-18 record.

After both having extra time off, Waterloo and Belleville will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Glarus, they will take on Wisconsin Heights at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
