Softball Recap: Fairfield Eagles vs. Little River Academy Bumblebees

With a playoff win on the line, Fairfield rose to the challenge on Friday. They skirted past the Little River Academy Bumblebees 12-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this matchup were averaging 2.35 runs allowed.

Haylee Allen made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Cadence Webster was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Madelyn Morrison was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Fairfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Fairfield's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Little River Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-14.
