Baseball Game Preview: Pikesville Panthers vs. Randallstown Rams

The Pikesville Panthers will take on the Randallstown Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pikesville has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Monday, Pikesville didn't have quite enough to beat Parkville and fell 11-10.

Meanwhile, Randallstown entered their tilt with Owings Mills on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Eagles, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since April 15th.

Ashton Dixon and Nigel KiNg made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Dixon tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, King struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Dixon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Dixon went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while King went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Dixon has become a key player for Randallstown: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Christopher Ross, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Randallstown's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Mikel Shade, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Pikesville has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Randallstown, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
