Softball Recap: Mogollon Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Mogollon barely beat Ray the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs blew past the Bearcats 17-7 on Friday. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Taylee Reidhead spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Marissa Parry was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Hoopes, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mogollon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.2.

Mogollon's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Ray, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mogollon beat the Bearcats by a score of 19-2 later that day.
