Baseball Game Preview: Phoenix Country Day Eagles vs. San Tan Charter Roadrunners

The Phoenix Country Day Eagles will challenge the San Tan Charter Roadrunners at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Phoenix Country Day is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Tempe Prep on Wednesday as they made off with a 14-3 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Logan Rose, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jack Whalen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, San Tan Charter waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They put the hurt on the Vandals with a sharp 25-1 win. The Roadrunners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by eight runs or more this season.

Anthony Crupi looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dillon Wildrick was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tommy Crupi, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

San Tan Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Miami only posted an OBP of .333.

San Tan Charter's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Phoenix Country Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
