Soccer Game Preview: San Jacinto vs. West Valley

The San Jacinto Tigers will square off against the West Valley Mustangs at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. San Jacinto is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

On Friday, San Jacinto beat Temescal Canyon 4-2. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Titans are ranked 888th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Jacinto hit Temescal Canyon with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Josue Cubarrubias (2), Jose Zuniga, and Jason Solito.

Meanwhile, West Valley kept a clean sheet against Tahquitz on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Titans 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Mustangs were the better team in the second half.

West Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3-2 record this season. As for San Jacinto, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6-2.

San Jacinto came out on top in a nail-biter against West Valley in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 1-0. Will San Jacinto repeat their success, or does West Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
