Basketball Game Preview: Maplewood Panthers vs. Valor College Prep Wildcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Maplewood Panthers face off against the Valor College Prep Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... The timing is sure in Maplewood's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Valor College Prep has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Maplewood is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Hume-Fogg on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Maplewood took a blow against Hume-Fogg, falling 80-45. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-22.

Meanwhile, Valor College Prep had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Glencliff 52-24 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since December 17, 2024.

Valor College Prep's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-12. As for Maplewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.

Maplewood couldn't quite finish off Valor College Prep when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 48-46. Can Maplewood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
