Basketball Preview: Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack vs. Franklin Wildcats
Cosumnes Oaks and the Wildcats are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack will be playing in front of their home fans against the Franklin Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Pleasant Grove scored an imposing 64 points on Monday, Cosumnes Oaks still came out on top. Cosumnes Oaks walked away with a 76-64 victory over the Eagles.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 1 on the offensive boards, a fact Franklin proved on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 win over Davis Sr. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Aiden Rollins and Aidan Crawford. Rollins had a great game and scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Meanwhile, Crawford was balling out in the loss, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.
Cosumnes Oaks' win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.
Cosumnes Oaks came up short against the Wildcats when the teams last played back in January, falling 77-65. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Franklin's Brandon Wasserman, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 2 assists. Now that Cosumnes Oaks knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
