Basketball Recap: Southwest Edgecombe Beats Washington for Their Tenth Straight Victory

SouthWest Edgecombe waltzed into their matchup on Friday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They breezed by the Washington Pam Pack to the tune of 75-10. With the Cougars ahead 48-5 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

SouthWest Edgecombe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kdeidria Collins out in front who went 9 of 22 en route to 19 points along with eight steals and seven assists. The game was Collins' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Whitehead, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 15 points in addition to six assists and five steals.

SouthWest Edgecombe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

SouthWest Edgecombe pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.9 points per game. As for Washington, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
