Basketball Recap: Flatirons Academy Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

A well-balanced attack led Flatirons Academy over Dawson School in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. The Flatirons Academy Bison beat the Dawson School Mustangs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 61-20. The Bison have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Annabelle Rakers was her usual excellent self, going 11-for-16 en route to 24 points along with seven assists and seven steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Sophie Rabus was another key player, going 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points.

Flatirons Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Flatirons Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.4 points over those games. Dawson School dropped their record down to 4-13 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Flatirons Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-33 win against Front Range Christian on the 20th. As for Dawson School, they will face off against Gilpin County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Gilpin County's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Dawson School's offense will have their work cut out for them.
