Basketball Game Preview: Caribou Vikings vs. Ellsworth Eagles

The Caribou Vikings will face off against the Ellsworth Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Caribou is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

Caribou will bounce into Friday's match after beating Hermon, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Caribou escaped with a win on Saturday against Hermon by the margin of a single free throw, 48-47. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Hawks are ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Ellsworth strolled past Foxcroft Academy with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 43-27.

Caribou pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 23.7 points. As for Ellsworth, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Caribou strolled past Ellsworth in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 40-23. Will Caribou repeat their success, or does Ellsworth have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
