Mize had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They skirted past Seminary  5-3.  Ella Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. Those  nine  strikeouts gave  her a new career-high.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  AK Easterling, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances. She is also on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  stole  at least one in each of the last three games she's  played.  Lila Gordon was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-4.
Mize's win was  their seventh straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs over those games. As for Seminary, they have  traveled a rocky road recently having  lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record  this season.
