Preview: Charleston Bluejays vs. Central Tigers

Charleston and Central are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Charleston Bluejays will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Central Tigers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Charleston's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.

Portageville typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Charleston proved too difficult a challenge. Everything went their way against the Bulldogs as they made off with a 65-42 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Charleston had established a 20 point advantage.

Ko'terrion Owens continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Zachyran Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Central was the victim of a tough 70-47 loss at the hands of Sikeston on Friday. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Sikeston is ranked sixth).

Charleston's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-12. As for Central, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.

Charleston came up short against Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 71-65. Will Charleston have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
