Baseball Recap: Centerville Tigers vs. Lovelady Lions
It was a proper cat-fight when Centerville duked it out with Lovelady on Friday. Centerville blew past Lovelady 13-3. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Jake Pineda made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI and two doubles. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February.
In other batting news, Centerville let Jacob Brooke and Wyatt Burleson run wild. Brooke went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles, while Burleson scored three runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Burleson has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Rayburn, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Centerville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Centerville's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2-1.
