Softball Game Preview: Tonasket Tigers vs. Liberty Bell Mountain Lions

Tonasket is 9-1 against Liberty Bell since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Tonasket Tigers will welcome the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions at 11:00 a.m. Tonasket knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Liberty Bell likes a good challenge.

If Tonasket beats Liberty Bell with 13 runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Tonasket blew past Omak 13-7 on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Macy Vassar looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Tonasket got a massive performance out of Jordyn O'Connor, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits O'Connor has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rylee Michels, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4.

Tonasket was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Liberty Bell had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against Bridgeport on Tuesday, falling 29-4.

Tonasket's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Liberty Bell, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-1.

Tonasket took their victory against Liberty Bell when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-3. Will Tonasket repeat their success, or does Liberty Bell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
