Baseball Recap: New Albany's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

New Albany dropped their record down to 12-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Silver Creek Dragons. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Gavin Rand and Braden Brewer stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rand went 2-for-5 with two runs and one double, while Brewer went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Tyler McMillen, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Silver Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

On Silver Creek's side, Hudson Garten was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave Garten a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Williamson, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI.

New Albany and Silver Creek should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Bulldogs will challenge Brownstown Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (36 vs. 127). Meanwhile, Silver Creek (ranked 24th) will meet Corydon Central (ranked 234th) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
