Volleyball Recap: Oxnard Takes a Loss

If Oxnard was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Pacifica last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oxnard Yellowjackets lost 3-0 to the Santa Barbara Dons on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Dons: they've now lost four in a row.

Oxnard took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-22.

Caiden Aguilar paced Oxnard's offense, picking up seven kills. Aguilar got some help from JP Mawas and his 18 assists. Aguilar was also a major player on defense: he and he shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Oxnard now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Santa Barbara, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Looking ahead, Oxnard will head out to face off against Ventura at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Santa Barbara, they will challenge Bishop Diego on Saturday.
