Baseball Recap: Bland Comes Up Short

Bland dropped down to 4-6 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 13-1 to the Cooper Bulldogs. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Cooper, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Cooper's part, Jaret Slakey made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Slakey has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Mason Stegall was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last six matchups. Levi O'Neal also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

While Bland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
