Volleyball Recap: Saint Francis Catholic Academy's Undefeated Season over After Six Games + How To Watch

If Saint Francis Catholic Academy was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Peniel Baptist Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolves fell just short of the Newberry Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Saint Francis Catholic Academy took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 22-25, 25-27, 25-23, 15-9.

Gianna Morali paced Saint Francis Catholic Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Morali got some help from Gabrielle Rosado and her 11 assists. Finally, Hailey Schoster kept Saint Francis Catholic Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Leading Newberry to victory were Riley Keith and Raigan Wockenfuss. Keith had 17 digs and two assists, while Wockenfuss had 11 digs. That's the most digs Wockenfuss has posted over her last six matchups.

Having lost for the first time this season, Saint Francis Catholic Academy fell to 5-1. As for Newberry, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Saint Francis Catholic Academy will square off against Hamilton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newberry, they have already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Williston on the 10th.
