Preview: Stratford Red Devils vs. New Milford Green Wave
The Stratford Red Devils will look to defend their home court on Friday against the New Milford Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Stratford and seven for New Milford.
Stratford suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were the victim of a tough 66-40 loss at the hands of New Fairfield. While losing is never fun, Stratford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while New Fairfield is ranked 45th).
Meanwhile, New Milford came up short against Pomperaug on Thursday and fell 59-48.
Despite their loss, New Milford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jacob Czupkowski, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Czupkowski posted two or more blocks. Ryder Gee was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Even though they lost, New Milford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Stratford's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for New Milford, they bumped their record down to 2-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
